"The Change"
The book of the generation of Jesus Christ (Matt 1:1-17), brings back into remembrance the people that God dealt with. Names reflect the sovereign work of God. In the lineage of Jesus Christ there were farmers, kings, adulterers, liars, and a prostitute. Do you remember Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, King David, King Solomon…God’s dealings with them? What about when your name is mentioned? Well, it’s certainly something to think about. 2 Corinthians 5:15 says, “And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves. But unto him which died for them and rose again.”
“Live unto themselves” would refer to their flesh man. We do go there, say things we shouldn’t be saying, doing things that God would not approve of, but the scripture states, “That he died for all” and we are to live unto Christ.
In 2 Cor. 5:16-17 we are to be a new creature, old things are passed away and all things become new in Christ Jesus.
So, we are forgiven, Christ died for us on that cross, he paid the price for our sins. We are able to become that new creature. There is a change that can take place, because of Jesus who made the way. It’s your walk with God. It’s your relationship with him. God is our creator. We need to worship him. 2 Cor. 5:18 says, “And all things are of God, who hath reconciled (restored) us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation”. Did you hear that? Wow! God has restored us by Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation. So, God has given us, it’s within us, the ministry of restoration. It’s all about changed lives. Our life is an example and able to change others. All because of Jesus, the power of the cross, the crucifixtion. Look at 2 Cor. 5:19 “and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation”. So, now! God has committed to us his word of reconciliation. You know that God’s word is a cleansing process…the renewing of the mind, the washing of his word in us (Rom. 12:2) (Titus 3:5). In 2 Cor. 5:20, “now then we are ambassadors for Christ”. That’s powerful! We are representatives for Christ. To me, that’s important. It should be for you, also. The apostle Paul states, “we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God”. We need to be continually restored to God. Also, to be a good ambassador for him. Amen! 2 Cor. 5:21 says, “for he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that he might be made righteousness of God in him”.
The righteousness of God in him. Where’s that scripture? Oh! Yes! “Therefore if any man be in Christ he is a new creature” (2 Cor. 5:17). The righteousness of God in Christ is about being a new creature. It’s about being restored. The changed person for God. The righteousness of God in you.
God is so good about how he speaks to the inner man. Let us not forget him. For he should always be the God of our lives. Let’s always keep an attentive ear and a tender heart towards God. He is the God of all things.
