Walk Before Me
In the old testament, the book of Genesis their are only two people who are accounted that walked with God. Genesis 5:24 says; "And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him." Hebrews 11:5 says; " and was not found, because God translated him." The other person was Noah. " Noah was a just and perfect (upright) in his generations, and Noah walked with God." [ Gen.6:9 ] I guess the question is, can we walk with God ? Is this task beyond our reach ? Surely many of us have some doubt. But possibly, we just do not want to make that kind of commitment. Well, I believe it comes down to this. "for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." [Heb.11:6] We need to believe in God for who he is. Faith in God. Surely Enoch and Noah did. They were sincere with God. Well that decision (walking with God ) is between you and him. Amen. In Genesis 6:9 it says; " Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations...." The word perfect in that scripture is meaning, upright or sincere. So, we know that Noah was upright and sincere according to scripture. Lets go to Genesis 7:1 which says;" And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation." The words, ( before me) sound familar. Walk before me. So, here we have the word righteous. God said he has seen righteous before him with Noah. The word righteous meaning upright and just. The connection is, righteous and perfect both meaning upright. So God expresses that we walk before him uprightly ,sincere and just. These are the qualities that Noah and Enoch have. I believe these are the qualities that God wants us to have. Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. We are now living in the time of grace. We are now in that dispensation of time. It could be called the 6th day or the last 6000 year rain. The last dispensation of time is approaching (the day of the Lord). We are to walk before the Lord. Prov.10:9 says; "He that walketh uprightly walketh surely." In the book of Genesis verse 17:1 says; "...the Lord appeared to Abram , and said unto him, I am the Almighty God: walk before me and be thou perfect (upright, sincere). I believe the whole content of walking with the Lord with the qualities he wants us to have, brings us to a spiritual place working with the natural man. We know that Noah and Enoch were delivered from specific events in that dispensation of time. Abram's name was changed to Abraham because God asked him to walk before him. " And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee , and kings shall come out of thee. (Gen.17:6)" Well, there were kings that came out of Abraham. We have King David;(1 Kings 3:6) says; " And Solomon said, Thou hast has shewed unto thy servent David my father great mercy , according as he walked before thee in truth , and in righteousness and in upright of heart with thee; and thou has kept him this great kindness, that thou hast given him his son to sit on his throne,as it is this day." I am sure that we can remember the many times David was delivered as he walked before the Lord. We also have King Hezekiah, (2 Kings 20:3) says; " I beseech thee,O Lord, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect (sincere, upright) heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore." So here Hezekiah was sick unto death and he prayed to the Lord. The Lord heard his prayer and healed him . 2 Kings 20:6 says; " And I will add fifteen years ; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the King of Assyria;..." Here we see deliverance manifested by God. These godly men were delivered out of incredible situations. Scripture says that they walked before the Lord. A righteous man is described in Psalms 15:2. It says; " He that walketh uprightly, worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart." Have we not heard these words before ? We have just read about King David, King Hezekiah, Abraham, also Enoch and Noah. They all walked before the Lord. They all were delivered in some way by God. The Lord has seen righteousness before him with these people. They were all saved by the hand of God. His holy habitation is our place of refuge. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. Listen to what the holy spirit is saying. His word give us insight to stay on course. " The righteous cry,and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart: and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. " [Psalms 34: 17-19] The scriptures are saying that God will deliver the righteous in some way. " To deliver their soul from death and to keep them alive in famine." [ Psalms 33:19] Lets remember , God knows how to deliver us. He will make a way to escape, and we will have an expected end. Lets walk before the Lord, search him out. " I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living. [Psalms 116:9] " For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he his on my right hand, that I should not be moved:" [Acts 2:25] This is a Voice Ministries message.
