| "In His Name"
" Do you not know that you are God's temple, and that God's Spirit dwells in you." [1 cor 3;16] We are created to be the dwelling place of God. He lives in us for we are his creation, created in his image. So, what kind of things should be in your temple. The things that are right in the sight of God. The fruits of the spirit, the fullness of God. Fruit unto holiness. " 1 Cor 3:17 For the the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are." Lets begin in the book of John where Philip is speaking to Jesus. John 14:8-11 says," Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that has seen the Father ; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake." These few scriptures is based on the fact with Philip asking the question to Jesus, "Shew us the Father". Jesus response is, I been with you all this time and you do not know me. He that has seen me has seen the Father. Another words, is the body of Christ still like this today ? Are we like Philip, that God is always with us and we still do not see him. We know God's works by his creation around us and the miraculous things that he does. But like Jesus said to Philip," Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip?" I guess the question is where are we with God. Has our faith deminished over the years ? Are we being slowly desensitize by the world around us ? 2 Cor 13:5 says, "Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?" Wow? Strong words. Well, its meant to have an impact. Are we to be as Philip? Jesus said, "Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me John 14:11." I believe the whole perspective is that, are we as brethren or God's people in the Father and the Father in us. If Jesus is our example and we are to be like him isn't that where God wants us to be. We are called to be sons. There are many sons. John 14:12-14 says, "Verily, Verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father, And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that I will do, that the Father maybe glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it." In these few verses there some issues that we should consider. Jesus says, "He that believeth on me." This should not be a passive statement. It is an indepth belief of faith within you. Jesus said," I am the way, the truth, and the life John 14:6." The word," believe" is to accept that something is true or someone is telling the truth ( Oxford English Dictionary). Well, Jesus is the truth. Jesus also says twice, "And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name" and "If ye shall ask any thing in my name." We know that Jesus, his name is above all names. Matt. 7:22 says,"... prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? His name has power. So when Jesus is saying,"in thy name" he is also meaning to have his nature within you. Having the nature of Jesus Christ. Because John 14:15 says, "If ye love me, keep, my commandments." I believe loving him will bring you into the nature of Christ. Love will bring a change in an individual. We are talking about the love of Christ in you,the hope of glory. Therefore you are no longer you, but you are of Christ Jesus. Your nature has changed because of your love for him. It is the Holy Spirit in you making the change by your obedience with love and faith. So,"If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it John 14;14." In my name is in the nature of Jesus. John 14:16-17 says,"And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot recieve, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him; but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you." In these two verses , Jesus is speaking about "the Spirit of truth". This is of great significance concerning our walk the Lord God. It will bring us into the nature of Jesus Christ and also to teach us the love we need to have for him. We are to be like him. How will this all work out? Well, the Spirit of truth will guide us. We have a Comforter, the Holy Ghost John 14:26. "Howeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whosoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and will shew you things to come John 16:13." So we have a teacher, we have a guide the Comforter, the Spirit of truth. How else are we to learn and to be more like Jesus. "He must increase, but I must decrease John 3:30." Jesus said, "I will not leave you comfortless; I will come to you John 14:18. Jesus did emphasize on,"If ye love me." Its the key in walking with the Lord. "Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my word: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him and make our abode with him John 14:23." Lets let the love of Jesus Christ do its great working in us. " for the temple of God is holy, which temple are ye." [1Cor 3:17] Lets not fall into the realm of being slowly desensitize. Continue to pursue to be conformed to the image of his Son. This is a Voice Ministries message. All scripture from the King James Bible. July 2011 Monthly Message from Scott Saraceni |
